Overview
Can I make my user name whatever I want?
Absolutely. As it's your own private Intranet, you can create whatever name, nickname, first name only, first and last name, or any other name as appropriate for you and your network.
What is the most popular application for personal use?
With having the privacy of your own network, you can use documents to share favorite photos from trips, holidays or other personal celebrations. Others can view the photos in an enlarged view or in slideshow mode and share feedback through comments.
Why is there no advertising on Odysen?
From the increasingly popular phrase, if you're not the customer, you're the product. And everyone knows how products are treated, any way the supplier feels like. In the case of many other networks, this leads to ad creep, increasing spam from low security and little to zero support. With Odysen, as you're always the customer, there's no confusion with both of our goals in alignment, your satisfaction. Additionally, you can add Basic users to folders as either an Editor or a Reader. An Editor can add or edit application content from the folder you've shared with them, a reader can only view the content and add comments.
Can I set up or access multiple networks?
Yes. This can mean that some networks you're the administrator for, other networks you can be an Advanced or Basic user. This allows you to keep networks separate that are meant to be separate, such as for different groups of friends or different types of family members. This can help to provide a tool for open communication, inside jokes and other content that maybe isn't quite ready to be shared with the general public.
Examples
Is there a way to get notified for upcoming birthdays?
For any special events, such as an anniversary or birthday, you can create an email alert, helping to give you a little extra time for any preparation needed. You can set an alert for a few days or weeks before the event and when the new alert day and time is reached, you’ll automatically receive the alert in an email. From the email you can click on a link to go directly to the event in your network.
How can I use to plan a surprise party?
Every once in a while it may seem like a good idea for a little surprise party for someone, whether for a special occasion such as a birthday or any other random, unexpected celebration that might need a little more preparation. To do this, just create a new folder for everyone except the person or people you’re planning the surprise for. This way, everyone can collaborate on the network, an action list for activities, sharing new ideas in notes, potential music in documents and of course the actual date and time in events. Others can add feedback in comments, making it more of a group effort. When the guest of honor logs into the network, as the folder isn’t shared with them, they won’t be able to see it or any of the content included in the folder. A nice privacy feature to take advantage of when using your own network.
What is the best way to view photos uploaded?
While you can view any photos shared with you one at a time, you can also do so by adding the Image/Photo filter combined with viewing in slideshow mode. This way, you can scroll through a whole album simply by clicking the forward button whenever ready to go to the next photo. If you’d like to add some feedback, you can add a quick comment, while keeping the photo in the same view for easy reference as you’re typing. If the comment is especially noteworthy, you can also send a quick email notification to others the folder shared with, including the comment in the email by default for a smoother process.
Can I play music directly from Documents?
For any recordings you’ve uploaded, others can listen to your songs directly from your network either one at a time or by adding them to a play list. If the document is an audio file, you’ll automatically see a play button option whenever viewing the details of the song. From this you can play, pause, stop, go forward or back in the song as well as change the volume. If viewing in a play list, you can click forward or backward to go to the next or previous songs that have been added.
How do I set up a folder for only my content, such as for backup?
When setting up a network for personal use, it’s common to pretty much share all folders with everyone, just to make it as collaborative and open as possible, at least for your own network. Occasionally you might want a more private folder, maybe for some personal documents you’d like to store for backup or other notes and websites you use for any medical or health initiatives. Not that you are necessarily trying to keep or hide it from anyone, it’s just that these items are much more important to you than the rest of the group, so no need to share with the each and every detail of these more personal items. One way to do this is if you’re an Advanced user, you can create a new folder and not share it with anyone else and you’re done. If you have Basic user permissions, you can ask the administrator or another Advanced user to create a folder and only share it with you. While not completely private, it is now only shared with one other person, still a big difference than shared with everyone. The Administrator can upgrade a Basic user to an Advanced user in the “Manage Network” link on the top right of any network page.
How can I view updated blogs or RSS feeds?
For any blogs or other news searches that you’ve added, or added by others, you can view the updated articles in a couple places. When you first click on the News tab, you see all the sources in a list view, showing their name, description as well as the most recently published article and the date of that posting. For any sources that you’d like to see more than the one article, just click on the name of the source and you’ll see all their recent articles. To view the article, just click on the name and the article will be opened in a new browser tab.
